17 – 18 June 2016: TEXT-WORLD–WORLD-TEXT – ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EXPERIMENTATION, POLITICS AND LITERATURE
You can watch the the Symposium here LIVE STREAM from Forum Stadtpark
The CROWD OMNIBUS Reading Tour will also make a stop at the FORUM STADTPARK, where the symposium “Text-World–World-Text – On the relationship between experimentation, politics and literature” will be held. Over two days, more than 20 authors from Europe and beyond who are working in the field of so-called experimental literature will discuss today’s role of the author in society and also offer an in-depth look into their literary and aesthetic approaches and perspectives.
There has always been a lively interaction between political and artistic/literary discourse. Especially considering the most recent political developments, the question of what kind of role the artist/author can and should play in a society becomes even more urgent. Particularly relating to more experimental authors, the question arises as to which role new artistic forms and methods can play in the relationship between literature and society.
Can these new forms possibly activate new emancipatory and society transforming potential? Is it even possible for art/literature to be a means of emancipation? How political can art/literature be at all? What coercions and restraints is the process of literary production allegedly or actually subject to? What kinds of strategies exist to escape from or to deal with these internal and external restrictions on literary production?
Let’s discuss some strategies and points of view regarding this range of topics!
