Travel log. Real estate trends

Julia Schiefer is reporting on the OMNIBUS Reading Tour – without actually partaking personally, of course! A blog somewhere between fiction and reality: she will be taking us on her own Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour with real insights instead of the usual sightseeing! Her excursions – open to all – are designed for everyday life (but mostly out of range). If you look to your left, you may see a dog chewing on a skirt; to your right, a scooter transporting a bucket of water as a chariot carries a peacock off to a jolly good show.

We were drawn out onto the street. The sun was shining, we, draped each other in good humour, we drank beer. Some. The ground and foundation, of our senseless talking, of stories told and quirky laughing would soothe us. A day of sundays. In this hour, a heat a dog couldn’t bear. Drinking the sun, a day in mother’s lovely garden, in the shadows, behind the oranges, in the cellar of grace lies a pen, a loud and swirly shift to the sun again.

We fantasize, we start to lie. What is this?
The contract has been made with shaking heads
We gesture hard.
Could now be anywhere. Not as we want us to wish.

But we want us to think –
One gets bokers at the arthaus battery
One gets lost permanently in gold plate
tossed out after the main course
into the Tiber.

Eventually
The meaning falls off its carrier
like an avalanche from the sky.

A cat comes out the door, full of old wrinkles, sorrowful
And drowsy from the day, the meal just eaten.

She complains, what is this? What are you doing?
Why are you here? What is the point? Where do you go? What do you want? She says and sits down and stares and waits.
