Messenger interview: Authors of Week 8

This week’s OMNIBUS group of authors have been traveling from Austria to Serbia. On the way they picked up some stories before finally dropping by the international arts and literature festival in Belgrade, KROKODIL.  What are the artists doing on a festival morning? To get an insight, I started an experiment. I chatted with the authors for around an hour on Saturday 25th about whether OMNIBUS can be a political statement, about breakfast on the tour and the incredible heat.

2016-06-25 10:11
Kristina Posilovic
She managed to do some kind of literary exchange where people bring their one stuff on poetry readings and trade it for poems. Amazing.
So we got lot of cool stuff, jams, cutting board, mugs, apples, seeds, musli, chocolate☀️.

2016-06-25 10:12
Julia Schiefer

2016-06-25 10:13

I wonder – this sounds almost like being a troubador

That is, do you feel more like a rock star or a troubador?

2016-06-25 10:18
Kristina Posilovic
Daniela says it changes a lot because we need to wake up too early. 😬

2016-06-25 10:19
Stefanie Sprengnagel
actually i expected a lot of party
but many of us are going to sleep early

2016-06-25 10:19

2016-06-25 10:19
Kristina Posilovic
Stefani, we’ll go out today.

2016-06-25 10:20
Stefanie Sprengnagel
🙂

2016-06-25 10:22
Julia Schiefer
ok, one last and heavy question to make this maybe more like an interview: do you think this journey can be or should be a political statement?

2016-06-25 10:24
Stefanie Sprengnagel
i would not say that

2016-06-25 10:25
Julia Schiefer
why wouldn’t you?

2016-06-25 10:25
Andreas Timotheou
If you mean that we are all coming together from different European countries yes it could be.

2016-06-25 10:25
Stefanie Sprengnagel
but i think you get a lot of insight about the politics of all the participating countries
this is the political dimension I’m seeing
and maybe the network
but it’s not a Statement it’s more about fun and socializing

2016-06-25 10:27
Kristina Posilovic
I’m very political person, so from my perspective – yep, we are building solidarity, at least!

2016-06-25 10:27
Julia Schiefer
yes, like to show that literature can cross borders, to show that all partners are equal – as a model, because art is a dream factory, too, no? I mean, it is where ideas and possibilites are tested out

2016-06-25 10:27
Andreas Timotheou
image001

2016-06-25 10:27
Andreas Timotheou
You are right!!!

2016-06-25 10:28
Julia Schiefer
Andreas! 🙂

2016-06-25 10:28
Julia Schiefer
fun and socializing could be a political statement or part of it, as well, no, Stefanie? when you speak to the underdogs, the persecuted, for example?

2016-06-25 10:28
Stefanie Sprengnagel
as i said …the thing that feels political to me is to hear all this stories about the political Situations in everyone’s country

2016-06-25 10:28
Stefanie Sprengnagel
it’s different to read in a News paper about European politics or hear personal stories…

2016-06-25 10:29
Julia Schiefer
I agree!

Immersion is a very strong tool – also in journalism btw, but still, having a face, travelling these countries and seeing them may sensibilize
so, what did you learn from the trip? @Kristina

2016-06-25 10:29
Stefanie Sprengnagel
and how it effects their working conditions

2016-06-25 10:30
Julia Schiefer
so at least about the conditions of a country? can you give me some insights, stefanie?

2016-06-25 10:30
Kristina Posilovic
Not everyone is an equal, that’s the main problem but knowledge and art make things clearer.

2016-06-25 10:30
Julia Schiefer
what do you mean, @Kristina? what has this journey shown ya?

2016-06-25 10:30
Kristina Posilovic
What people are being doing in their own countries to raise democracy and tolerance, in their hoods and social circles. So maybe I can implement some ideas into my community and initiatives.
My country is fucked up. Government resigned, we have new elections in September, nationalism is growing fast, there is no solidarity with the poor or workers.
left parties didn’t do anything to protect workers in the period of corrupted privatization so they’re loosing members.

2016-06-25 10:32
Julia Schiefer
Don’t tell me that you have found a receipt to confront the situation in Croatia
no?

2016-06-25 10:35
Kristina Posilovic
Nope, not yet! But ask me in May next year if I managed to change situation, we have important local elections. 😉

2016-06-25 10:36
Julia Schiefer
hahaha, sure.

2016-06-25 10:36
Stefanie Sprengnagel
i think we have to leave in 5 minutes

2016-06-25 10:40
Julia Schiefer
ok, most memorable moment on the journey?

2016-06-25 10:41
Stefanie Sprengnagel

kristina: vineyard

2016-06-25 10:42
Andreas Timotheou
Slovenia!!! People there were so warm and kind. Maybe it’s the countryside. I don’t know, was really amazing there. Such a good energy.

2016-06-25 10:42
Julia Schiefer
🙂
yes, your motivation is love, right, andreas?
thats what you said in the crowd interview

2016-06-25 10:44
Andreas Timotheou

2016-06-25 10:44
