Amanda DeMarco (1986) is the initiator of New German Fiction, the first contest to offer translation as a prize, and the founder of Readux Books, a Berlin-based English-language publisher of short texts, mainly in translation. She is currently translating Franz Hessel’s Walking in Berlin (Scribe Publications, 2016) and Gaston de Pawlowski’s New Inventions and the Latest Innovations (Wakefield Press). Her writing has been published in various venues, from The Believer to The Los Angeles Review of Books. Her New Year’s resolution is to review ten translated books in 2015. Originally from Chicago, she came to Berlin in 2009 with a Fulbright grant.
